Above the crucifix is placed the traditional INRI plaque. The Latin initialism "INRI" is meant to refer to the phrase "Iēsus Nazarēnus, Rēx Iūdaeōrum", which translates to "Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews". According to John 19:20, this phrase was written in three different languages and hung on a plaque above the head of Jesus at his crucifixion. The base is engraved with "First Holy Communion".
