A Bible for Efe
Some time ago, the founder and owner of Logos Trading Post, Enis, gave a Bible to his friend Efe. Enis was, and continues to be, a firm believer in the scripture Isaiah 55:11.
“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
Enis had enough faith in this verse that he put it into action, believing that the Word of God would accomplish and fulfill whatever purpose the Lord had ordained for Efe. Time went by, and the Bible went unused. Efe soon fell on hard times, and his mental health spiraled to the point of despair; he decided to take his own life. He prepared to do just that, and among what were to be his final moments, he spotted nearby the Bible that Enis had given him. In one final grasp at finding hope, Efe opened the Bible to be met with Isaiah 43:2, hand-inscribed by Enis on the inside cover:
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.”
This scripture was enough to give Efe the small hope that he so desperately sought. He resolved to live that day. He soon after initiated contact with a local pastor, and is living a fulfilled and happy life to this day – the Word of God did not return void.
